Thanksgiving Day in Canada occurs every second Monday in October to celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year. This celebration is customarily punctuated by a festive meal with turkey. For those who have cottages, this is the last long weekend that they could enjoy the cottage before closing it up for the winter.
This is also celebrated on various dates as a national holiday in Grenada, Saint Lucia, Liberia and the United States --- and unofficially in countries like Brazil and the Philippines. Our Canadian Thanksgiving coincides with the U.S. observance of Columbus Day.
Back in our hometown Sariaya, we have this similar celebration called Fiesta de San Isidro where we have the Agawan Festival. But we find this event more colorful in our neighboring town Lucban where they call it Pahiyas.
To celebrate, we are giving away $25 Thanksgiving coupons to all our homestay room occupants. If you are eligible, redeem your coupon by entering discount code TY25-111424 here. But hurry, these coupons expire on November 14, 2024.
